NsT Quartet

  • NsT Quartet, composed by Fabio Ditto (violin), Michele Cosso (double bass), Francesco Silvestri (piano), Giovanni Smiroldo (accordion), has been formed in 2002 to explore typical musical languages of twentieth century: the traditional tango, the new tango by Astor Piazzolla, the light jazz by George Gershwin, atmospheres by Kurt Weill, compositions by Morricone, Piovani, Bacalov, european popular repertoires.
  • All four members of the group are professionally trained classical musicians. They have worked together on various musical projects which have enabled to measure themselves with new musical solutions: conference-concerts, theatrical performances, monographic concerts.
  • The most important concert-halls where they have individually played are: Theatre “La Scala” in Milan, Theatre “Lingotto” in Turin, National Academy “Santa Cecilia” in Rome, Theatre “Vittorio Emanuele” in Messina, Theatre “Francesco Cilea” in Reggio Calabria, Auditorium RAI in Rome and in Turin, Theatre “San Carlo” in Naples, Theatre “Comunale” in Florence, Festival “Biennale di Venezia”, “Italian Culture Institutes” in Melbourne, Adelaide, Marsiglie, “Arts University” Konzerthaus in Berlin, “Konzertgebow” in Amsterdam.
  • The most important activities of the group were been: conference-concert (2005) about the Tango with the participation of Stefano Zenni, famous RAI musicologist; performance in Sicily reviewed in qualified magazine JAZZITALIA.IT (2006); concerts in “Music Instrumental” National Museum in Rome (2007); concerts in Romany and in France (2007).
  • In 2005 they realized a live recording CD “NonsoloTango”, including compositions by Astor Piazzolla, Richard Galliano and also an inedited work.
